Documentary film score • 75 minutes
Faithlife Films adapted the book The Unseen Realm [print] [digital] by Michael S. Heiser into a documentary film. They originally wanted to use library music, but the subject matter of the film, which covers deep theological topics from a fresh angle, required an original score. I completed the work during the last stages of production, over a period of about three weeks. The score includes every Christian trope I could think of: harps, pipe organ, bells, boy choir, breathy vocals, piano, strings, as well as a number of exotic sounds including berimbau, Thai gong, and oud. Some synthesizers were utilized as well. The music is dramatic, uplifting, sometimes dark, minimalistic and melodic. At 75 total minutes, it’s the longest single piece of music I’ve ever created.
